Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The Lacrosse season in these parts are miles away......or are they ?
Tonight, the Owen Sound Junior B NorthStars will have their Annual General Meeting.
The meeting is set for 7:30 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
The Junior B program is the final step for Owen Sound & area players to compete in the sport in their teenage years.
Because nobody stays a teenager forever, it's understood that there is a cycle of players coming in and a cycle of players going out which means the operation is consistently in a state of flux in terms of who is overseeing the team and who handles the various aspects of the operation.
It's a delicate scenario and the personal touch is always needed, that is, manpower from parents and supporters is every bit as valuable as operating capital.
A player or parent can pay their fair share of the expenses, but a time commitment is more significant in making the Junior B program functional, again, for those who have graduated the Minor Program.
Speaking of Minor Lacrosse, their Annual General Meeting will be staged on Wednesday October 24th at 7pm, also at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
The biggest needs for Minor Lacrosse is a Tournament Convenor, a 2nd VP in charge of House League, a Registrar and a Website person.
Can you help ?
And finally, the Owen Sound Senior NorthStars Lacrosse Club held their Annual General Meeting last night at Shorty's..............and they're not saying much.
Or, they're not confirming what's in the air and spreading rapidly in the streets of Owen Sound.
The 2019 Lacrosse season is miles away, but the ignition has been jump started for the Junior NorthStars, the Minor Lacrosse NorthStars and, based on the speculation, what seems to be an exciting turn of events for the most Senior NorthStars.
