The 12th annual Cobble Beach Pro Am was staged Monday
The overall field of players for the event was in excess of 130, of which close to 35 were prominent professionals competing for the top prize in the individual competition.
The 2018 Pro-Am needed a playoff as both Alan McLean of Riverbend & Matthew Peavoy from Scarborough Golf Club shot even par 72s over 18 holes.
The playoff was decided with both players going back to the par 5 18th hole, which, if you've ever played Cobble Beach, you know is a monster.
On a day when the tee box is downwind, that makes the conditions 5 times more challenging.
Regardless, while Peavoy was able to par the playoff hole, McLean knocked his ball onto the green in 2 and 2 putted for the title which equated to a handsome payoff of $ 3,200
Peavoy picked up $ 1.700 and would also take some consolation in leading his Scarborough Club entry, which was packed with Peavoys, to the overall Team Championship
By my count there were a dozen local pros in the field, the lowest finisher being Cobble Beach golfer Stephan Bardswick.
Bardswick shot 1 over par, 1 stroke off of the leaders and finished in a 6 way tie for 3rd place with prominent provincial names including Brian McCann from Brampton.
For his efforts, Bardswick pocketed $ 775 which won't make him rich, but it does represent another very good day of golf for the Pro-Am at Cobble Beach Golf Resort.
