Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Owen Sound Grey Motors United will conclude their Kitchener & District Soccer League regular season on Sunday afternoon when they host Kitchener Banat at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
As often is the case, there's many ways to look at the game.....
On the positive side, Grey Motors can nail down 6th place on the season and head to the playoffs with some momentum with a win over Banat.
In fact, Owen Sound is in need of some momentum coming off two road losses including a 2-1 defeat recently at Guelph against the last place Gryphons.
The road obviously has been tough for United this year as they went 1 & 7 away from home and will be looking at a road matchup come playoff time, so again, getting that winning feeling with the post season on the horizon is significant for Grey Motors.
Another angle to consider is the upward swing for the Owen Sound side.
After starting the year 1 & 4, Grey Motors United has essentially played .500 soccer since the beginning of Summer and are 4-5 & 1 in their last 10.
Sunday's matchup will be an excellent primer for both squads; Owen Sound for reasons mentioned, plus the opposition, Kitchener Banat, cannot be caught by Owen Sound for 5th and the Kitchener squad has aspirations of joining the Top 4 in the league.
Kitchener Banat at Owen Sound grey Motors United; Sunday, note the early start time of 3 pm at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex.
