OASA U19 This Weekend in Owen Sound
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
Among the events on the near horizon is the Ontario Amateur Softball Association U19 Championship Tournament this weekend at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound.
Actually, it's two tournaments; there's an 8 team event on the " A " side plus a 6 team tourney on the " B " side, making for a total of 14 teams competing Saturday & Sunday.
Among the 14 teams are 4 from our broadcast region; Shallow Lake, Belmore & Chepstow are in the " A " Division while Tara is competing in the " B " Division.
Play starts Saturday morning at 9 am, and of note, at 11 am you can take your pick of any of the 3 diamonds and you'll find a local entry in action.
Tara opens against Burgessville on Duncan North
Shallow Lake meets Ivanhoe on Duncan South
Plus, Chepstow and Belmore go head to head on Duncan Major.
There's a series of games every 2 hours on Saturday with the undefeated games in the 2 sectors both set for Saturday night at 7 pm.
The tournament continues Sunday with the back door games and eventual Championship Final.
The full schedule for the weekend is posted at www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca
Also of significance, this event is a prelude to a BIGGER tournament more than a year down the road.
The Owen Sound Fastpitch group will be hosting the U19 National Championships in August of 2019 at Duncan McLellan Park.
