First Weekend of July

 Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".


The first weekend of July brings us a variety of summer sports activities.


In Ottawa, the Canadian Track and Field Championships are being staged this weekend.


Seven members of the Saugeen Track & Field Club are competing including Ryan Jacklin in the Hammer Throw.


Jacklin is just back from representing Canada at an Under 18 competition in Jamaica.


In fastball, the Ontario Amateur Under 23 Elimination Tournament is being staged at Grafton.


The Owen Sound Junior Selects are one of 6 teams competing.


Meanwhile in Oshawa, The Shallow Lake-Owen Sound Selects are competing at the OASA Under 14 event.


Keep in mind, the fastball horizon includes the OASA Midget Provincials July 28 & 29 at Duncan McLellan Park, the Tom Simms Memorial Fastball Tournament at Meaford is the same weekend & the the ISC World Championships will be August 11th-18th at Kitchener.


Finally, closer to home, Owen Sound Grey Motors United have 2 home games this weekend in the Kitchener & District Soccer League; tonight against Stratford and Sunday afternoon against Listowel.


The Owen Sound Senior NorthStars are at home to Six Nations tomorrow night and to Brooklin on Sunday afternoon.
