Turcotte Talks Fastball

Length:

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

As June unfolds I notice there are no games in the Bluewater Fastball League tonight.

However for the remainder of the week, there's a game, or games, every night.

Tomorrow night in Owen Sound, the Junior Selects host the Saugeen Thunderbirds while in the Durham the defending champion Dodgers host Elmwood.

Wednesday, the traditional night for fastball in Port Elgin sees a Grey Bruce Ladies game between the Allenford Gators & the Diamond Devils preceding the Blue Devils game against Wiarton.

Thursday, it's the Thunderbirds hosting Chepstow at the Saugeen diamond & then Friday night in Chesley, the Elmwood Smoke are at home to Wiarton.

Speaking with Bluewater League President Matt Turcotte last week, as you'd expect, he's highly enthused about the 2018 season.

Durham is the defending champion for the 8 team loop.

Wiarton, Port Elgin & the Jr Selects have Championship pedigrees.

Elmwood should be a contender.

President Turcotte admits that there have been some prominent pitching departures from the league with veterans Rob Fawcett of the Blue Devils & Wiarton's Andy Jackson retiring.

But Turcotte is quite excited about some notable newcomers, especially Wade Kewageshig of the Saugeen Thunderbirds.

So while there's no Bluewater Fastball games tonight, there's a lot to see in 8 different communities through this week and for the 2018 fastball season.

I'm Fred Wallace
