Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The last Wednesday in May might be the busiest day on the local sports calendar.
By my count, there were SEVEN CWOSSA events staged that included entries from Bluewater Athletic Association schools.
Boys Rugby plus both Girls & Boys Soccer, here there and everywhere.
The local fastball loops all had games; in Owen Sound, at Tara & in Meaford.
Plus, for good measure, the Junior B NorthStars had a crucial divisional game at home against Guelph.
And while it certainly didn't overshadow game 2 of the Stanley Cup or the Blue Jays latest tumble, there was no shortage of activity.
All of which brings us to the weekend...which won't be quiet either.
The Stanley Cup resumes tomorrow night in Washington with the Capitals & Vegas tied at 1.
The Blue Jays are in Detroit to conclude what has been a 9 game road trip, that essentially crushed any belief they were divisional or playoff contenders.
At Saugeen Golf Club, the 26th annual Crimestoppers Golf Tournament will be staged, fittingly highlighted by guest speaker Brian Williams.
The Liuna 1059 Senior NorthStars are at home to KW tonight in lacrosse.
The Opening Night for Hanover Raceway is tomorrow night with a 7:15 pm post.
And the Owen Sound Attack Awards barbeque goes Sunday.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
