Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ":
A terrific showcase of lacrosse, past & present, is featured in Owen Sound over a 4 day span starting tomorrow night.
The sequence begins with the Junior B NorthStars hosting the Elora Mohawks tomorrow night at 8 pm.
The scenario for the Junior Stars is well documented as they are in a mad scramble with 4 other entries currently for one of the 2 Wild Card spots.
There's no question unbeaten Elora will be the favorite tomorrow night coming in with a record of 9 & 0.
But, wouldn't it be sweet to be the team to snap that streak ?
Furthermore, tomorrow's game is one of 3 STILL remaining against the Mohawks and I'm sure the Wild Card contestants have already marked them off as defeats for Owen Sound.
Then Friday night at 8, the Liuna 1059 Senior NorthStars will play their home opener when they host the KW Velocity.
After starting with 3 on the road and going 2 & 1, the Senior Stars have a pair of games at home this weekend and want to keep pace with Oakville atop the standings.
Then Saturday night at 7, the Junior NorthStars are back for a pivotal Conference game against the St Catharines Spartans who are one of those teams in the Junior Wild Card derby.
Plus, Saturday's game will be highlighted by the 25th anniversary celebration of the Owen Sound Flying Dutchmen who won the Canadian Junior B Championship & Founders Cup in 1993.
Finally, Sunday afternoon at 4, the Senior NorthStars host the Six Nations Rivermen in a rematch of last year's Championship Final.
It's a short week, but a long weekend ahead for lacrosse in Owen Sound.
