Former Owen Sound defenceman Connor Walters scored the game winning goal.
Hi, I'm Zach Scribner with Off The Wire
The Hamilton Bulldogs advanced to the OHL Finals with a 2-1 win last night and have made their path seem easy so far.
In the 3 series the dogs have played, they won each of them 4 games to 1.
What a time it was for Connor Walters to score his first goal of the playoffs this year.
The former Attack defenceman put a shot on net which found it's way in behind Jeremy Helvig to clinch the Eastern Conference title for Hamilton.
The run by the Bulldogs has been nothing but impressive.
General Manager Steve Staois made one of the best deals of the year very early on this season.
He went to Flint and acquired Nicholas Caamano and Ryan Moore for Connor Roberts and picks.
Those two skilled forwards combined for 75 points for Hamilton this season.
It was a good trade because Staios didn't have to give up more than what he would have at the trade deadline.
At the deadline he was very active.
He traded his first round pick Connor McMichael and 5 draft picks for superstar Robert Thomas. He acquired some solid defenceman in Nicolas Mattinen and TJ Fergus to solidify the back end.
However it will be interesting to see who advances from the West to play them.
I like their chances against Kitchener. I'm not too sure if they could beat the Greyhounds.
In the regular season the hounds thumped them 10-0.
But it was nice to see that there was an Owen Sound tie in the Bulldogs win last night.
Congratulations to Hamilton, and the best of luck in the rest of your playoff run.
I'm Zach Scribner.
