Owen Sound skip Julie Tippin On Olympic Qualifier

Length:

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

Owen Sound curler Julie Tippin was at the Canadian Olympic Trials in Ottawa, the " Roar of the Rings ", last week.

Skipping for the Woodstock Curling Club, Tippin's rink went 2 & 6 in the round robin and failed to advance to the playoff round.

The spectrum of emotion and observation from Tippin following the event, as you can imagine, is very wide.

At one end as a competitor, 2 & 6 isn't satisfying.

In the middle, there's an honest belief that with a shot here or there, or a better start against Rachel Homan, or a better finish against Chelsea Carey, the Woodstock rink's record could have been significantly better.

And at the other end of the spectrum, the atmosphere at the Canadian Tire Centre and the celebration of competing amongst the best of the best in Canadian Curling is exciting.

In the aftermath of the Roar of the Rings, Julie Tippin has no doubt that Canada will be well represented at the Olympics by Homan in the women's division and by Kevin Koe in the men's event.

Having said that, and having competed against some of the best in the World, Tippin relates both Homan and Koe will have to be at their best.

And Julie Tippin and her rinkmates plan to be at their best in early in 2018 at the Provincial Women's Championship at Whitby.

I'm Fred Wallace
