The Owen Sound Girls Field Lacrosse program sent me a note pertaining to a very ambitious fundraiser they're currently conducting.
The Owen Sound girls organization has acquired FIVE HUNDRED tickets for the Toronto Rock home opener on December 16th at the Air Canada Centre against the Saskatchewan Rush.
And while that looks like a huge number and a major challenge, is it any bigger than the challenges the group has already met, starting from Ground Zero and building a very active and vibrant program ?
From the organizers standpoint, this junket not only will generate funds for a program that is growing rapidly, but also will shine a spotlight of two of the best players from our region; Rob Hellyer & Adam Jones, who are playing at the very highest level on the continent.
In the eyes of the fundraisers, they hope to generate somewhere between $ 4,000 & $ 6,000 through the ticket sales; money that can be applied to a number of facets that need to be addressed as the Owen Sound program thrives and quite likely will continue to grow going forward- equipment, uniforms, nets, proper officiating and more all need to be upgraded as the numbers in Owen Sound expand.
The date is December 16th, Toronto Rock hosting the Saskatchewan Rush in the NLL Home Opener for the Rock with proceeds each ticket sold in the region coming right back to the region to further assist Girls Lacrosse.
