Sting, Red Devils, Ladies, Bluewater & 2018
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
There's a lot of fastball activity on the go, both in our backyard and beyond
First of all, we're watching a couple of Shallow Lake teams this week.
The Shallow Lake Arbonne Sting are at the Canadian Peewee championships in Palmerston this week.
After winning twice on the opening day of the tournament yesterday, the Sting will play 3 times today.
Meanwhile in Cobourg, the Shallow Lake Red Devils are at the Canadian Bantam Championship Tournament.
Yesterday the Red Devils had their busy day going 2 & 1. They'll play twice today and twice tomorrow to conclude the preliminary round.
Moving to the men, the Bluewater Fastball League has a pair of games tonight; Saugeen Thunderbirds at Chepstow Aces and in a rematch of the Tom Simms Final, the Port Elgin Blue Devils are at Wiarton to face the Nationals.
The Owen Sound Men's Fastball Playoff Tournament opened with 4 games last night at Duncan McLellan Park.
That playdown runs to August 28th as they crown the 2017 league champions.
The Grey Bruce Ladies Fastball Playoff Tournament continues tonight at Allenford with 2 elimination games, the first one set for 7 pm
And while we're talking about Ladies Fastball, the Owen Sound Lady Selects made the quarterfinal at the PWSA Tier 2 event in Jarvis and will depart next week for Saskatchewan.
The Lady Selects intend to bid to be the host organization for the PWSA Championship in 2018.
Plus, the rumblings persist that the Owen Sound Fastpitch Association is also looking to be the host site and host team for the 2018 Canadian Junior Men's Championship.
Today through August of next year appear to vibrant times for fastball in the region.
I'm Fred Wallace
