Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire. "
First of all, thanks to everyone for supporting Tim Hortons Camp Day yesterday.
I was at the Wiarton location on Berford Street, but it's obvious from far & wide the initiative to support Tim Hortons Children's Foundation was embraced, so again thanks.
We move to another charity function today and a landmark one at that.
The newly named Southampton Golf & Country Club welcomes Crimestoppers of Grey-Bruce for their 25th annual tournament, an event that has generated more than $ 450,000 over 24 years and will inch closer to the half million dollar mark today.
To mark the occasion, numerous celebrities will be on hand including former Maple Leafs captain Wendel Clark plus former Leafs Bill Derlago and Tom Fergus.
While it's always been a fun day, there's no doubting the value of the tournament which serves as major fundraiser for Crimestoppers operation in our region.
Since 1987, the Crimestoppers of Grey-Bruce have fielded almost 14,000 tips, and those tips have resulted in more than $51 Million in seized narcotics and stolen property in the two counties.
So, thanks for helping youngsters yesterday on Tim Hortons Camp Day and today, thanks in advance and for the past support of Crimestoppers of Grey-Bruce.
I'm Fred Wallace
