Owen Sound Seeks Sweep & Franchise Record Extension
Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
The Owen Sound Attack are back in Barrie tonight to face the Colts in the 6th and final meeting of the regular season between the two clubs at opposite ends of Highway 26.
The Attack have a mark of 5 & 0 head to head with the Colts this season, outscoring Barrie by a margin of 30-8.
It's not a stunner that Owen Sound is having success head to head against Barrie.
Last year, the Colts swept all 6 games with Owen Sound, and in a bid to go-for-it in the playoffs, Barrie finished the season with 3 overagers plus 10 other players who were in their final year of eligibility.
Naturally, there was a large turnover from last year's Barrie squad and the Attack have taken advantage of an inexperienced Colts team this year and garnered 10 points in the process.
If Owen Sound wins tonight, they'll completely sweep Barrie for the first time ever. Yes, Owen Sound went 6 & 0 in 2010-11 against the Colts but Barrie managed to snag a point in a shootout loss, so it wasn't a perfecto like Barrie accomplished last year against the Attack.
And furthermore, everyone is awakening to the reality of the Attack franchise record win streak which sits at 14 straight.
No question, Owen Sound is the betting favorite tonight....but let's not forget the 2009-10 season when the Colts had a 22 game winning streak snapped by an Owen Sound entry that wouldn't make the post season that year.
We'll see what happens tonight at the Molson Centre
