It's Friday, and for the next 30 weeks I'm willing to wager, that every Friday will be the start of an event filled weekend in these parts.
Personally, we're off to Kitchener tonight to see the Attack and the Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League.
The games with Kitchener are always significant from my viewpoint, but I think you'll get a pretty good gauge about what's ahead for the next two years when these teams meet tonight since, on paper, there are tremendous similarities.
While the Attack are away, the Bayshore & Coliseum will be busy with the annual Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group " Fall Classic ".
Owen Sound hosts 3 big tournaments per year which serve as fundraisers.
In case you missed it last week, Minor Hockey contributed $ 50,000 to the new Recreational Complex Project, which really is a win-win, in that Minor Hockey is supporting the facility which in turn will allow them hold bigger and maybe better tournaments and events.
Finally in Mount Forest tonight, their Sports Complex and the Junior C Patriots are hosting a fundraising Skate-A-Thon.
It starts at 8 tonight and runs for 12 hours.
It's been about 35 years since I was in a Skate-a-thon, and I'd go again tonight...except I'm at Kitchener.
