I want to backtrack and congratulate Bobby & Mijka Hooper and Petra Ballantyne on the opening of DanceMakers Gymnastics.
I was at their Grand Opening last Wednesday and was highly impressed by the size, the space, the color and the options available for gymnasts big & small, young & old, accomplished and otherwise.
Some wonder about having two significant Gymnastics Clubs in the same city, with the existing Satellites program and now DanceMakers, but I say it's almost typical of Owen Sound and Owen Sound sports.
Ever notice how there's two of everything ?
Two public high schools and a separate high school booming with activities effective this week.
Two competitive travel soccer teams, both contenders for their respective titles.
Two competitive travel lacrosse teams, one of which a two time National Champion.
Two, and maybe more next year, competitive travel fastball teams, one of which has evolved into the perennial host for a Canadian Championship tournament.
And for the longest time we had two junior hockey teams as well, although for this year, we're down to one with the Greys on hiatus
The point is, Owen Sound is a busy little city in sports and the number of options for sports and activities, including gymnastics, is a great thing as far as I see it.
