Round, round we go.
Always loved that song by Trooper, and it serves as the background for the hockey scene.
A long time ago, so along ago that Owen Sound had just 1 radio station on which Fred Wallace was a disc jockey, and the city had only 1 hockey team; the Greys, I remember watching youngsters John Vary, Brad Tiley and Jeff Reid.
That was 1987-88, and those players were going places in hockey.
All over North America as it turns out, and in Tiley's case all over the globe finishing his pro days in Austria and then last year in Japan.
More than 20 years later, all 3 are back and entrenched in the city, the latest returnee being Tiley who was hired last week as an assistant coach for the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League.
That's a good call for so many reasons.
Attack fans and longtime hockey fans get to watch a cycle play itself out.
The Attack get an inexperienced coach, but a highly experienced player who can draw on so many scenarios from the Greys to the OHL Champion Soo Greyhounds to the AHL, IHL, the NHL @ Phoenix & Philadelphia and beyond.
And for Tiley, make no mistake, this too is an opportunity, somewhat similar to the opportunity he and Reid and Vary and others had such a long time ago with the Owen Sound Greys.
