The scenario for the Owen Sound Bluewater ProTeam NorthStars Junior B Lacrosse team is simplistic; win and you're in.
If the NorthStars beat the Elora Mohawks tonight at the J.D. McArthur Arena, Owen Sound will gain a berth in the post season.
Simple equation, true; more difficult in reality.
The Mohawks have already clinched their position in the playoffs, and the last time they were in Owen Sound, Elora lost a very entertaining game in overtime to the NorthStars, which again illustrates how tiny the difference is between playoff and non playoff teams this year.
Keep in mind, if Owen Sound loses tonight, they can still get to the playoffs, if Elora wins Sunday at home against Orangeville.
But do you really want to leave your fate in the hands of two division rivals like Orangeville and Elora, or do you want to slide in the backdoor ?
The reverse scenario is this; if Owen Sound loses at home tonight and Orangeville wins on the road Sunday, then Orangeville is in and Owen Sound is out.
So tonight, the ProTeam NorthStars have their own fate in their own hands on their own home surface.
Game time for the Mohawks & NorthStars is 8 pm tonight at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center.
