Bob Whittam award winner Martin Campbell with BBC President Ross Kentner

Last year, Bayshore Broadcasting created the Bob Whittam Award for the Environment as a way of honouring Bob Whittam, who is credited with saving the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre at Midland.  The award is for the Simcoe County resident who makes an outstanding contribution to the environment.

The first winner of the Bob Whittam Award is Wasaga Beach Lion, Martin Campbell.  Martin was behind the Club’s first annual Think Smart Show, a show focused on the link between health and the environment.  The two day show in October was very successful.  From the proceeds, the Wasaga Lions will award $1,000. to the local elementary school environmental program judged the best this coming spring, and $1,000. for tree planting in the community.

Martin received the award on December 12th, 2011, at a meeting of the Wasaga Beach Lions Club from Bayshore Broadcasting President Ross Kentner (pictured above).
