An addition to St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School Walkerton will allow for the creation of 39 new spaces in the Brockton Child Care Centre.
The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board says a $1.05-million ($1,058,758) Ministry of Education grant will allow for the construction of two additional classrooms in the school to support a toddler room and preschool room.
School Board administration says planning and construction will commence this year with expected completion in 2019.
The funding is part of the province's plan to create 45,000 new licensed child care spaces in schools, communities and other public spaces.
A BGCDSB release explains the Ministry of Education, Municipality of Brockton, County of Bruce and school board joint project of a 4,400 square-foot addition to St. Teresa of Calcutta and renovation of two existing classrooms began in May 2014.
Brockton Child Care Centre began operating from the location in September 2014.
The centre provides day care programs for children from sixteen months up to ten years of age.
