Both Hanover and Walkerton are celebrating Family Day in style.
That includes live musical entertainment, children’s activities, horse drawn wagon rides, hockey games, a free swim in Hanover and free skating as well as refreshments.
In Hanover the fun takes place at the P&H Centre beginning at 10 am with children’s activities, including: art, games, stories and dancing.
The Horse Drawn Wagon rides begin at 11 am along with a number of outdoor winter activities to take part in including snow volleyball.
This will be followed by a meet and greet with the Mayor and Council at 12:30.
There is also a free skate at 1 pm and a free swim at 3 pm, with cupcakes and hot chocolate served at 2:30 pm.
In Walkerton Family Day festivities take place in and outside the Walkerton Arena.
The morning kicks off with a Family Breakfast at 8:30, followed by a free family skate from 11am till 1 pm.
For hockey lovers the Hawks will take to the ice for a playoff game at 1:30.
From 11 am till 1 pm families can also take advantage of Horse Drawn Wagon rides, hot drinks and weather permitting you can even take part in a game of crokicurl.
Like many communities, both Hanover and Brockton have married Family Day with the Day of Play.
Hanover Rec Director Sherri Walden calls it a great way for families to come out and celebrate a day of play together, helping to defeat those February blahs.
