Family Day Fun In Hanover & Walkerton

Hanover | by Robyn Garvey

Hanover and Walkerton will have activities, games, music, wagon rides and more.

Both Hanover and Walkerton are celebrating Family Day in style.

That includes live musical entertainment, children’s activities, horse drawn wagon rides, hockey games, a free swim in Hanover and free skating as well as refreshments.

In Hanover the fun takes place at the P&H Centre beginning at 10 am with children’s activities, including: art, games, stories and dancing.

The Horse Drawn Wagon rides begin at 11 am along with a number of outdoor winter activities to take part in including snow volleyball.

This will be followed by a meet and greet with the Mayor and Council at 12:30.

There is also a free skate at 1 pm and a free swim at 3 pm, with cupcakes and hot chocolate served at 2:30 pm.

In Walkerton Family Day festivities take place in and outside the Walkerton Arena.

The morning kicks off with a Family Breakfast at 8:30, followed by a free family skate from 11am till 1 pm.

For hockey lovers the Hawks will take to the ice for a playoff game at 1:30.

From 11 am till 1 pm families can also take advantage of Horse Drawn Wagon rides, hot drinks and weather permitting you can even take part in a game of crokicurl.

Like many communities, both Hanover and Brockton have married Family Day with the Day of Play.

Hanover Rec Director Sherri Walden calls it a great way for families to come out and celebrate a day of play together, helping to defeat those February blahs.
