UPDATE: Georgian Cancels Homeopathy Program
Decision comes amid opposition; the college says applicants can apply for another program
Georgian College feels the pain is not worth the remedy.
The post-secondary institution announced on Friday that it is scrapping their 3-year Homeopathy Diploma Program that was slated to begin this September.
No reason was given for the decision to cancel the program.
But in a statement, Georgian says they will allow prospective students who have enrolled in the program to either withdraw or transfer to another program.
There has been opposition to the program since it was first announced last year.
Barrie physician Dr. Chris Giroshev -- who chairs a section on chronic pain for the Ontario Medical Association -- calls the practice of homeopathic medicine pseudo-science that does nothing to treat illnesses.
