Outbreaks At Local Care Homes

Grey Bruce Public Health Unit has declared respiratory outbreaks at three care homes.

Grey Bruce Public Health Unit has declared respiratory outbreaks at three long-term care facilities in Grey Bruce.

Summit Place in Owen Sound and Trillium Court in Kincardine are both dealing with a rash of Influenza B cases, while Elgin Lodge is dealing with a respiratory outbreak -- but the virus classification is still pending.

Meanwhile, several other retirement homes and nursing homes in the region are still dealing with outbreaks declared over the past couple of weeks.

The Health Unit says Southampton Care Centre in Southampton, Kelso Pines in Owen Sound, Gateway Haven in Wiarton and Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow are experiencing a flood of respiratory illnesses.

Also, Lee Manor in Owen Sound remains under a gastrointestinal outbreak advisory.
