Goderich Hospital Foundation Fundraising For IV Pumps

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

AMGH Foundation has raised $150 thousand of $250 thousand goal for new IV pumps.

As Goderich Council enters budget deliberations later today (MON), they'll be considering a grant request from the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation among many others.

The Foundation is asking the Town for $50 thousand, to be put toward replacement of intravenous pumps throughout the facility.

A fundraising campaign has a target of $250 thousand, of which $150 thousand has already been raised.

AMGH Foundation Coordinator Shannon LaHay says the current pumps are no longer being serviced by the vendor, and are reaching the end of their service lives.

LaHay notes that when the IV pumps sound an alarm, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.

She says each time it happens, a nurse has to check out the unit to see that it's still working properly and then reset the device.

LaHay says there is no deadline to fundraising, but that hospital staff would like to see the IV pumps replaced sooner rather than later.
