Researchers at Western University need your help finding a meteorite in the Exeter area.
Ph.D. student Mike Mazur says the rock fragment slowly fell from the sky over South Huron Wednesday night.
Cameras pointed at the night sky were able to triangulate the location of the meteorite to somewhere between Exeter and Grand Bend.
Mazur expects the fragment could be tens or hundreds of grams in weight.
If you are searching for the meteorite, Mazur reminds you to ask permission before entering private property.
By law, meteorites belong to the owner of the land on which fragments are found.
Mazur asks that you handle the meteorite with rubber gloves or a plastic bag, to avoid residue from your fingers being left on the rock fragment.
If you find the meteorite, you are asked to contact Mazur at 250-551-6426, or at email@example.com.
