As Bluewater Council heads into the final year of its current term, Mayor Tyler Hessel is reflecting on 2017 as a year of hard work well done.
He points to a number of accomplishments by Council and staff, and says he's proud of the way Bluewater worked with neighbouring municipalities and Huron County in the past year.
Hessel says 2017 saw implementation of several ideas from the strategic plan that had been completed at the start of the current Council term.
The document's basic goals are improvements in infrastructure and communication along with balanced growth, economic development, operational excellence and quality of life.
Hessel points to Bluewater's commitment to transparency and openness, and that public feedback to the municipality's social media presence has been encouraging.
He believes it's important to keep residents in the loop on what Council and staff are doing, and that platforms like Facebook and Twitter play a large role in staying accountable.
Hessel looks forward to new projects in 2018 and predicts this will be a busy year, as they head toward October's municipal election.
