More Scams Reported To The OPP

Regional | by Vanessa Culbert

One Senior loses $1,900 on line, while others turn away scammers at their front door.

Grey County OPP are putting out another warning about scammers.

Officers say on Monday three unknown males attended a residence in Dundalk and asked if they could check the pipes in the basement for water filters.

The homeowner was suspicious and turned them away before calling the police.

The suspect males, two Caucasian and one with darker skin colour, were said to be in their 20's.

One was wearing a silver coloured winter jacket with a fur hood. Two of them were carrying clip boards.

Last week, a Chatsworth senior was defrauded $1,900 after she provided her debit card number to an online pop-up site.

The victim was surfing the internet when a pop-up for a Personal Computer help post appeared and she opened the link and was eventually prompted to provide her debit card number.

To report fraud or any crime anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS) or online at
