Sierra Systems, a leading IT services and management consulting firm, has officially opened its new office in Underwood, part of the amalgamated Municipality of Kincardine.
At a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, the Vice President of services for Sierra, Dave Duff, says he's pleased to have his company so close to Bruce Power, having worked for the firm for the past 6-years.
Duff says Sierra Systems now has 74 people working with Bruce.
Fifty-nine are located on-site while the remainder are working remotely with Bruce.
Duff says "A lot of the 59 that we currently have, come out of the Toronto area and I want to change that."
He says he wants local people doing the work for Bruce Power.
Duff says the firm wants to be part of the Underwood and Tiverton communities as they work alongside Bruce Power and its employees.
Sierra Systems is the first IT service provider to open a local office dedicated to Bruce Power initiatives.
Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie says Sierra Systems adds to the "economic growth plan" of the municipality.
Eadie says such a move, "Brings in families and people with their talents and time to make our communities better."
