Island Lake to be Officially Renamed

Orangeville | by Jill Young

Mapping systems declare Island Lake as the "Orangeville Reservoir".

Island Lake in Orangeville could see a name change, and the town wants your input.

It’s been called Island Lake for years by locals, but mapping systems don’t recognize it.

Now the man made body of water in Orangeville could be officially renamed that.

The Ontario Geographic Names Board is conducting a survey of local residents and businesses to determine if it's the right name.

On map systems it's called the "Orangeville Reservoir".

A questionnaire is posted on the Ministry of Natural Resources website at

https://apps.mnr.gov.on.ca/apps/page/geographic-names-questionnaire-island-lake/

The deadline for public input is February 1st.
