Meaford has approved their budget, and it is the lowest in years.
Council has directed staff to bring back a bylaw with a 1.25 per cent blended increase for approval at the next meeting.
Treasurer Darcy Chapman says that was equal out to about $45 more for the average household.
Chapman says they are keeping their finances in good shape and understanding what the long term needs are and that helped create a low increase.
He hope the reasonable increase locally should be something the public can hope to expect moving forward.
Work in the budget includes the new library, Collingwood Street and Thompson Street rehabilitation and work four different bridges.
Total spending for the Municipality of Meaford is coming in at $13.67 million for this year.
