Colts Take Care of Wolves

Barrie | by Ken Hashizume

Hawerchuk broke a 2-2 tie with his 3rd period goal with 2:09 left in regulation.

The Barrie Colts come out of the Christmas break with a victory.
Ben Hawerchuk's goal (his 9th on the season) with 2:09 left in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and the Colts went on to beat the Sudbury Wolves 4-2 on Thursday night.
The goal came after the Wolves scored twice in that period -- on goals by Blake McConville and Michael Pezzetta -- to erase a 2-0 deficit.
Barrie opened up the scoring in the first period when Luke Bignell pounced on a rebound for his 7th goal of the season for a 1-0 lead.
Lucas Chiodo scored his 13th midway through the second period for a 2-0 lead.
Christopher Cameron got a goal (his first of the season) and an assist while Leo Lazarev made 34 saves for the Central division leaders (21-10-2-1).
Mario Culina stopped 35 shots in the loss for the Wolves (10-20-5-0).
Barrie went 0-for-2 on the power play, Sudbury was 1-for-3.
The Colts are in Owen Sound Saturday night to take on the Attack in the first game of a back-to-back, home-and-home series.
