No Change in Leadership at Board of Education

Chesley | by John Divinski

Chair Ron Motz and Vice Chair Jan Johnstone were acclaimed to their respective positions for 2018.

No change in the leadership of the Bluewater Board of Education trustees group.

At its regular meeting, Tuesday, December 19th, both Chair Ron Motz and Vice Chair Jan Johnstone were acclaimed to their respective positions for 2018.

For Motz, trustee for Hanover and West Grey, it will be his final term.

He announced he will not be running in the 2018 municipal election.

Motz says, "It's time for somebody else to take over."

However, until he's done, Motz says he's looking forward to studying ways to enhance programming within the system.

He says they've been through a rough three years but they've eliminated a multi-million-dollar deficit.

Now it's time to invest some of the money they've been given into programs involving technology and rural education.

Vice Chair Jan Johnstone, trustee for Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss, says she's looking forward to the challenges ahead.

Johnstone says she hopes her role as a leader in the public education system, will spur on young women, to take on leadership roles in the future.
