Ontario Hockey League

London Knights 1 Owen Sound Attack 0

Knights 1 Attack 0

Evan Bouchard blasted the game winner for London on a power play in the 2nd period and Joseph Raaymakers made it stand up with a 32 save performance.

The Knights registered just 2 shots in both the 1st & 3rd periods, but they made the most of a power play opportunity with just over 4 minutes remaining in the 2nd period. A clearing attempt after a scramble around the Owen Sound net went directly to Bouchard who sent it past Olivier Lafreniere for the only goal of the game.

Lafreniere who made 13 stops in the game, gave up just 2 goals against in regulation time over 2 games this weekend in his Owen Sound debut- both of which were losses.

Agonizingly for the Attack, the game marked the 28th time in 32 outings this season that they have outshot the opposition. Yet, the defeat gives them a 3 game losing streak heading into the Christmas Break with a record of 14-13-1 & 4. Owen Sound has 1 win in their last 10 outings.

The Attack who were ranked # 2 in the CHL at the start of thye season, are currently 8th in the Western Conference, 5 points up on Erie for the final playoff spot.

Owen Sound returns from the holidays with game December 28th at home against the Midwest Division leading Kitchener Rangers.

The Attack have not beaten a Midwest Divsiion team since October 27th when they downed the Rangers in Kitchener.

Both the Attack & Knights were significantly shorthanded for the contest due to injuries, suspensions and players away at their respective World Junior Championships.

The Knights, who were missing prominent players Robert Thomas, Max Jones and Alex Formenton, had 61 goals in their lineup for the game while Owen Sound who had 7 regulars scratched had 63 goals in their lineup.

With the victory, London improves to 18-14-2 & 0, good for 38 points.

After a horrid start to the season in which they were 1 & 9, London sits 5th in the Conference at the Christmas Break.
