For the second year in a row, the 98 the Beach (Bayshore Broadcasting) 12-hour radiothon for the Light the Way campaign has surpassed its $50,000 goal.
At the close of the broadcast at 6 Thursday night, Saugeen Shores callers and visitors to the station had donated $60,600.
Combine that with the $92,000, the campaign has received from the annual mail-ins, the overall Light the Way goal of $150,000 has also been surpassed.
Light the Way is a fundraiser for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation in its continuing effort to buy state-of-the-art equipment for the Southampton Hospital.
Foundation Executive Director Sally Kidson says "I'm am so deeply touched by people's generosity and their faith in what we do."
Kidson says it's "amazing" how the people come through with their hard-earned dollars time and time again.
This year's Honourary Chair, Canadian Tire owner Mike Mowbray says "It's a great feeling to be a part of this group of people who pour this much passion and energy," into the fundraising campaign and particularly the Radiothon.
The Mowbrays were no slouches either having donated money to the cause on three different occasions during the 12-hour broadcast.
