Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is considering a south campus to meet health care needs in south Barrie and Innisfil.
This will not be an overnight venture.
Lots of discussions ahead with the provincial government.
In fact, this is a 15 to 20 year planning process.
A capital planning committee has been formed by the hospital.
RVH has a 50-acre parcel of land in Innisfil at the 6th Line and Yonge Street that was donated in 2009 by Cortel Group, a real estate developer.
The hospital opened a $450 million expansion five years ago, but since then RVH has grappled with surging patient volumes, and on most days every bed is full.
