Driving in the winter can be treacherous, and what's being called a very 'snowy' winter on the way, there are some things drivers should know.
OPP across the province are hoping drivers get a good set of winter tires to increase traction, make sure you have a sleeping bag, warm jacket, snow pants and boots in your car, and a candle with a metal container to hold it.
Constable Paul Nancekivell of the Dufferin County detachment says if you get stuck in the snow get out your emergency supplies to stay warm and call *677 to reach the OPP Comm Centre to get help.
Nancekivell says on a snowy day though, they may take a while to reach you.
He also says it's important to follow the barricades, and listen to the local media to find out when highways have reopened.
