Stuff the Cruiser

Officers will be in Owen Sound, Lions Head and Tobermory collecting non-perishable food items

Local food banks are in need of supplies for this holiday season and the Police are helping out by hosting Stuff The Cruiser events this weekend on the Bruce Peninsula and in Owen Sound.

This Saturday, December 2nd from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Bruce Peninsula OPP Auxiliary members will be at the Foodland stores in Lions Head and Tobermory.   

Owen Sound Police will hold an event at Food Basics on Saturday, December 2nd from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, December 3rd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Next weekend they'll be at Zehr's in Owen Sound from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday December 8th and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday December 9th.

Owen Sound Police already held a Stuff The Cruiser event at Metro last week and collected 1,200 lbs of food.

Meanwhile Bruce Peninsula OPP have recently held successful food drives at Foodland in Wiarton and Fretz's Valu-Mart in Sauble Beach.

They filled 2 OPP cruisers and an OPP truck with donated non-perishable food for the Salvation Army Food Bank in Wiarton.

A total of 1,144 pounds of non-perishable food items as well a cash donations totalling $1,145.42 was collected for the annual Salvation Army's Christmas Food Drive.
