Brockton Hires New CAO

Brockton | by Robyn Garvey

The Huron Kinloss Clerk will move to take over the position in Brockton in January.

Brockton has found a new leader for its municipal team.

Huron Kinloss Clerk Sonya Watson will become the new CAO of Brockton in the new year.

Watson will be taking over the reins from current CAO Deb Roth who will be retiring at the end of the year.

Mayor David Inglis is very pleased Watson will be joining the team.

He says her management style and leadership abilities will help the community to continue to move forward.

Watson is a native of Brockton and plans to draw upon her local knowledge to assist in this new role.

Over the last 16 years Watson has worked for the Township of Huron Kinloss, and served the last 12 years as Municipal Clerk.

Watson is a graduate of the Executive Diploma in Municipal Management and is Certified Municipal Officer.

Watson says she looks forward to working alongside Brockton Council, staff as well as the citizens of Brockton to explore future opportunities for growth in the community.

Before taking over in January, Watson will have a little time to shadow outgoing CAO Deb Roth to assist in the transition.

Inglis adds while he is pleased to welcome Watson on board he says Roth will be greatly missed.

Watson will start her new position as CAO in January.
