Home sales fall in Grey Bruce.

While sales drop compared to 2016, prices continue to climb.

Home sales in Grey Bruce took a tumble in September, but prices are still up from a year ago.

A total of 243 homes sold during the month, which is down nearly 26 percent from the highest September on record in 2016.

Despite the fall, the total was the fourth best month of September on record.

President of the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound, Steve Dickie says the average price of homes sold in Grey Bruce was just over 284 thousand dollars.

That is up 9.6 percent from the same time last year.

Dickie says the overall supply of homes on the market remains at record lows. 

There were 860 homes listed for sale at the end of September, which is down 36 percent from last year and the lowest September level on record.

The number of months of inventory stood at 3.5 at the end of September, down from 4.1 months a year earlier, and the lowest level on record for this time of year. 

The dollar value of all home sales in September was $69.1 million, falling 18.8% on a year-over-year basis.
