Bluewater East Elementary Cross Country Meet

at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex, Owen Sound

The divisional winners in Grades 1-4 included Sydney & Keira Snelling of  Peninsula Shores District School plus Mason Hale from Osprey & Holland Chatsworth runner Carter Frook.

The list of divisional champions in Grades 5-8 included Taryn Lee & Riley Jacobs Gamble of East Ridge plus Highpoint's Dante Hannivan and Kara Tichbourne from Georgian Bay.

More than 900 runners took part.

The top 6 finishers in each division are posted on our sports page.

Bluewater Football League

at Hanover

John Diefenbaker Trojans 7 Saugeen District Royals 0

The Trojans won the defensive battle for their 1st win of the season.

The victory by John Diefenbaker clinches a playoff spot for the Trojans and eliminates the Royals who went 0 & 4 this season.

Today at Grey Highlands, the St Mary's Mustangs & Grey Highlands Lions meet.

Both teams are 2 & 0 on the season

Greater Metro Junior Hockey League

Knights of Meaford 16 Wiarton Schooners 2

Tyler Strutz & Alex Naskov both had 4 goal games for Meaford

The Knights move above .500 and will host West Nippissing next Thursday

Luke Fraser had both goals for Wiarton

The Schooners are at home Sunday against South Muskoka

South Muskoka Sheild 6 New Tecumseth Civics 4

Body Tracy scored twice for the Shield

Vadim Shatunov had 2 goals for the Civics who are tied with Almaguin for 1st in the North

Aaron Luchuk scored twice for the Spitfires

Michael DiPietro made 28 saves for the Spitfires who are in London tonight.

The Knights have lost 6 in a row

Barrie Colts 7 Erie Otters 5

Andrei Svechnikov scored twice for the Colts.

The Colts who were last in the OHL last season are now 1st in the Eastern Conference

Peterborough Petes 2 Kingston Frontenacs 1

Nick Robertson had the game winner for Peterborough

Ottawa 67's 4 North Bay Battalion 3 (OT)

Mathieu Foget scored 25 seconds into overtime for the 67's

Tomorrow, the Owen Sound Attack who have picked up at least a point in 26 consecutive regular home games will host Oshawa at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre

The Oshawa Generals have won 5 straight games in Owen Sound

( Owen Sound's last win on home ice vs Oshawa Oct 29/11...which was Jack McGregor Night )

Kincardine Bulldogs 5 Hanover Barons 0

The game was tied 0-0 after 2 periods before Tyler Sutter started a run of 5 straight Bulldogs goals

Ethan Primeau made 18 saves to post the shutout for Kincardine.

Tonight, the Bulldogs are in Goderich to face the Flyers.

Jordan Taylor had a hat trick for Stayner who are 9 & 0
