It may not be happening until next summer (2018), but time is running out for early bird registration ahead of the region's very first Gran Fondo Lake Huron Cycling event.
Sally Kidson, Executive Director for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, says anyone wanting to take part can sign up online.
"The Gran Fondo registration site is now open and we do have an early bird price that is available until October 9th," says Kidson.
That price is just $20 dollars for the 30km ride, which goes up to $25 dollars on October 9th, 2017.
Kidson notes there will be a few price increases between now and the actual event next August (19th, 2018).
"So the first price increase is October 9th, which is coming up very quickly," notes Kidson. "Most of the distances for the Gran Fondo go up by about $5 dollars and a couple of them go up by $10 dollars for the October 9th price increase."
Organizers are also quite flexible when it comes to registering or signing up for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron.
"If you think that you want to do the 30Km next year, go ahead and register. It'll give you the goal and it'll be on your calendar, "notes Kidson. "If something happens that you've registered for a distance that's maybe not going to work out for you next year you can just give us a call and we'll fix that."
The inaugural Gran Fondo Lake Huron is set to take place on Sunday, August 19th, 2018.
