A new home construction company from the GTA has committed to donating half a million dollars to the Markdale hospital.
On Thursday, September 28th, President of Flato Developments Incorporated, Shakir Rehmatullah announced his firm would give $50,000 a year for the next 10 years to the facility.
Rehmatullah says he wants to give back to the community and ensure there is a good hospital available for some of his home buyers, and for the general population in the area.
The money will be used to buy equipment either for the existing hospital, or a new one if it gets approved by Queens Park.
Flato is building up to 700 homes in Dundalk in several phases.
Faye Harrison, board chair for the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation, says it is a generous contribution that will help ensure that excellent, local healthcare will continue to be available for families in the Markdale area.
