UPDATE: A golf tournament was set to be held in Kincardine Saturday in support of Youth Mental Health but due to unforeseen circumstances, organizers have been forced to postpone the event until May 2018.
Original Story below:
It's the brain child of Walkerton based "WES For Youth OnLine", a free and confidential online counselling network for youth between the ages of 13 and 25.
Spokesperson, A.J. Adams, tells 98 The Beach (Bayshore Broadcasting News) the inaugural golf tournament takes place in Kincardine at the end of this month.
"The golf tournament is a really fun way to raise funds and awareness for WES for Youth Online and get involved in a great cause," says Adams.
The Hitting the Green for Youth Mental Health Golf Tournament takes place September 30th at the Ainsdale Golf Course in Kincardine.
Adams says the reason they chose Kincardine for the event is broaden the spectrum and reach out to more and more people.
"WES For Youth has kind of been focused in the Walkerton and Hanover areas and they're expanding their services in a greater area," says Adams. "Ideally, their goal is to be the Province's if not the Nation's go to for online counselling for youth."
Roughly 1.2 million Canadian youth are affected by mental health illness but only 20 per-cent are able to get access to the help they need.
