Arson suspect remanded again.

John MacDonald makes brief court appearance by video and is held over to September 21st.


Once again, the man charged in connection with 5 separate fires in Owen Sound, has been remanded in custody and he will be back in bail court September 21st by video.

42 year old John MacDonald was in September 13th, appearing by video and was remanded in custody. 

On September 1st, five separate fires were put out by the Owen Sound Fire and Inter-Township Fire Departments in the downtown area, including a huge blaze on 2nd avenue east above Good Fellas Pizza and Kornblums Men's Wear.

That fire did nearly 1 million dollars in damage to the building and contents.

On September 4th, Owen Sound Police arrested MacDonald on some 13 charges including 5 arson charges. 

Owen Sound Police are still asking to speak with the man and woman who may have witnessed the arson on 3rd Avenue ‘A’ East on Friday September 1st.

6) Possess Incendiary Material

During the investigation police uncovered other criminality of the accused. He is also charged with:

7) Theft Under $5000.00

8) Theft Under $5000.00

9) Break, Enter and Commit Theft

10) Mischief under $5000

11) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

12) Obstruct Police -False Identity

13) Obstruct Police -False Identity
