Sports registrations in Hanover and Brockton

Regional | by Robyn Garvey

Numerous activities have sign ups for the fall and winter seasons.

It’s one stop shopping for parents who want to sign their kids up for Fall and Winter recreational activities.

Hanover is hosting its annual Fall and Winter Registration Night this evening from 7 until 8:30 pm at the P&H Centre.

With over two dozen groups, clubs, sporting, music and dance organizations to choose from, Hanover Program Development Coordinator Laura Webb says there really is something for everyone.

She strongly encourages parents and youth to come out and see what the community has to offer in the area of recreational programs.

The list includes: martial arts, band, hockey, dance, gymnastics, curling, skating, ringette, swimming, basketball, line dancing and clubs like Sparks, Brownies and Guides to name a few.

Webb says this one stop shopping registration and information evening provides the public with a chance to get more details about many Fall and Winter activities in the community.

She adds that programs are not limited to youth, there are also some opportunities for adults to sign up as well.

Webb says tonight is all about providing the public with an opportunity to explore what recreational opportunities are available within the community without having to track the organizations down individually.

She adds it’s important to promote a healthy active lifestyle for children, saying one of the best ways to do this is by having them participate in recreational programs.

Webb adds that this night is open to everyone not just Hanover residents.

She says ever since the Town eliminated its non-resident-user-fee system last summer (2016) more and more families from outside of Hanover are now taking advantage of the recreational opportunities offered in Hanover.

Meanwhile, Brockton is also hosting a Community Mass Fall Registration this evening from 6 until 8:30 pm at the Walkerton Community Centre.

Options include, golfing, curling, skating, and the Special Olympics as well as Brockton’s own recreational programing.
