Baycats Take Commanding Lead in IBL semifinals

Branfy Infante with 3 hits for Barrie in win over Brantford.

The Barrie Baycats are in full command of their Intercounty Baseball semifinal series.
Matthew St. Kitts had a strong outing giving up 2 runs on 4 hits over 6-and-two-thirds innings striking out 12 in a 6-2 victory over the Brantford Red Sox on Friday night.
The Red Sox got on the board first in the second inning as Nic Burdett scored on an RBI single by Cody Mombourquette for a 1-0 lead.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the sixth, Kyle DeGrace slugged a solo home run to lead off the inning and give the Baycats a 2-1 lead.
Brantford would tie it up in the top half of the 7th then Barrie broke it open with 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 5-2.
Branfy Infante had 3 more hits to improve his postseason average to .455 and scored 3 runs for the Baycats.
Christian Garcia took the loss in relief of starter Matt Martinow who went 5-and-a-third innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Mombourquette finished with a pair of hits for the Red Sox.
The Baycats are in a position to complete the sweep in Game 4 Sunday night in Brantford.
