South Bruce Peninsula council is moving ahead with the proposed Town Square project in Sauble Beach.
The motion to move ahead passed in a 3-2 vote.
Voting against were councillors Ana Vukovic and Craig Gammie.
Gammie calls the project "Grossly incompatible with Sauble Beach."
He says he believes the majority of the people are against it.
Gammie says there appears to be undue haste in getting this project approved.
He says despite the public meeting held on August 5th, there should be more consultation with the public on the $900,000 project.
Gammie called the consultation on August 5th, "A sham. It was a farce."
At that meeting, the public was allowed to ask one question only and no answers were given at that time.
Mayor Janice Jackson, who voted in favour of moving ahead, is not surprised by the opposition by some.
She says all concerns voiced by the public, including cost, safety and noise issues, have been forwarded to the architect as final plans are created.
The town square would include a stage area, washrooms, and a lookout tower coupled with a slide, as tall as its neighbour, the Ascent Aerial Park.
