Grey Gold Concrete and Landscapes soccer team travelled to Oak Ridges Saturday.

On Saturday July 15, 2017 the Owen Sound United U9 Grey Gold Concrete and Landscapes soccer team travelled to Oak Ridges to compete in the Kickin’ it on the Moraine soccer festival.  The team has been practicing hard preparing for their second festival.  In game #1 the United ran up against the Guelph Gryphons.  It was a close, hard fought game and a great start to the day for Owen Sound.  Tyler Thompson made some huge saves in net to start the game and Noah Nairn kept the saves coming in the second half against the aggressive Gryphons.  In game #2 the Grey Gold Concrete and Landscapes team ran up against another good team in the host Oak Ridges Knights.  Owen Sound brought their ‘A’ game and played even with their hosts.  The United keepers Emmett Arthur and Hayden King-Vickers played really well and helped keep their team in the game.  In the two games Noah Nairn managed a goal and Alex Harris booted in two goals.  There was a lot of great passing and this team is learning really quickly what it takes to play against these high level opponents. Coach Jim Arthur has them trending in the right direction and the players are learning a lot.  There will be one more festival for this team later in August.
