Baycats Sweep Doubleheader from Majors
Bats shined in the first game, pitching took over in the finale.
The winning train keeps rolling for the Barrie Baycats.
They take both games of Saturday's 7-inning doubleheader from the London Majors.
Kevin Atkinson's 3-run home run in the first inning was the start of an offensive onslaught for the Baycats.
They would go on to beat the Majors in game one by a score of 18-2.
Atkinson and Stevie Lewis each collected a pair of hits and drove in 3 while Kyle DeGrace had 3 hits and scored 3 times.
Emilis Guerrero allowed 2 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings striking out 5.
Byron Reichstein had two hits and drove in both of London's runs.
While the bats shined in the first game, pitching took the spotlight in game two.
Claudio Custodio fanned 10 London batters over 7 innings in a 2-1 Baycats' victory.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the home half of the 7th, Branfy Infante was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, stole second base, and later came around to score on a single by Glenn Jackson.
London got their run in the 6th inning when Reichstein's fly ball split Jackson and Jeff Cowan in the outfield.
They would end up colliding with each other allowing the ball to reach the outfield fence and Reichstein came around to score on the inside-the-park home run.
Jackson and Cowan were both bruised but remained in the game.
The two wins improve the Baycats' record to 25 & 0 while the Majors fall to 19 & 7.
The next game for the Baycats is Sunday afternoon when they take on the Brantford Red Sox at Coates Stadium.
