Residents can drop off Hazardous waste in Wiarton and Tobermory

It's another weekend to get rid of household hazardous waste in Bruce county.

The South Bruce Peninsula Works Garage is Wiarton is open today  from 8 until 11am.

And the St. Edmund's Landfill Site in Tobermory is also open today  from 1pm until 3pm.

Bruce County residents can bring their hazardous waste materials, such as paints, oil, cleaners, batteries, chemicals, and propane tanks, for proper disposal at no cost.

Hazardous materials can be spotted by their labels. They will say either corrosive, toxic, reactive or flammable.

Officials say improper disposal into drains, sewers, backyards or landfills endangers public health and contaminates water supplies and other natural resources.
